First Auburn Seniors to meet

AUBURN — The First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 3, for a regular meeting at 11 a.m. The board meeting will be at 10 a.m.

Those attending should bring a bag lunch. Bingo will be played. Tickets for the spaghetti dinner will be on sale for $6 each. Dinner will be on the Wednesday, Jan. 17, meeting day. 

The last meeting was the Christmas party at the Green Ladle with entertainment by the Lorraine Ouellette Trio. Pot of Gold winners were Larry Castner, Diane Vincent and Cindy Larrabee; and, 50/50 winners, Dolores Danforth, Jackie Charette and Jeanne Adams.

Center seeks volunteer companions 

LEWISTON — The Center for Wisdom’s Women is seeking volunteer applicants for companions.

The companion role requires women to have a professional background in social work, teaching, nursing, chaplaincy or other related fields, and companions work with local women. The commitment is a half-day weekly.

Food pantry seeks donations

AUBURN — The High Street Congregational Church Food Pantry has ongoing needs for the following items: peanut butter, canned vegetables, soup, canned pasta, canned meats, canned fruit, dry cereal, baking items, soup, crackers and toilet paper.

Auburn United Methodist Church collects items for the pantry. Donations may be brought to 439 Park Ave.

Texas Hold’em poker planned

LOCKE MILLS — Jackson-Silver Post 68, American Legion, will host a Texas Hold’em poker tournament Saturday, Jan. 6, at 595 Gore Road.

Doors will open 11 a.m., and games will begin at 1 p.m. There will be a 50/50 raffle, pull tabs, meals and beverages available. Players may bring their own beverages.
