RUMFORD — Brooke Carver hit six 3-pointers and scored 22 points as Mountain Valley pulled away in the second half to defeat Richmond 59-44 in a girls’ basketball matchup Tuesday.

Rylee Sevigny scored 21 for Mountain Valley, while her sister Avery added 13.

Richmond received a team-high 18 from Sydney Tilton. The loss brings Richmond to 4-3, while Mountain Valley moves to 5-1 on the season.

Lewiston 51, Mt. Blue 41

FARMINGTON — Lewiston took control in the third quarter of their 51-41 girls’ basketball game against Mt. Blue on Tuesday.

The Blue Devils trailed 28-26 at halftime before outscoring the Cougars 10-2 in the third, and then added four more points to their lead with a 15-11 fourth quarter.

Victoria Harris paced Lewiston (3-4) with 22 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals. Freshman Jamyah Nicolas added nine points to the winning effort.

Mt. Blue (2-5) was led by Lexi Mittelstadt’s 22 points, which included four 3-pointers.

Rangeley 69, Temple Academy 32

WATERVILLE — Natasha Haley scored 25 points and led Rangeley to a 69-32 girls’ basketball win over Temple Academy on Tuesday night.

Haley scored 25 and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead both teams in each category. Brooke Egan added 15 points for the Lakers, and Lauren Eastlack tallied five steals.

Deleyni Carr scored 15 to lead Temple Academy, but it wasn’t enough as they fell to 2-5 with the loss. Rangeley continues their hot start, moving to 7-0 on the season.

Morse 39, Leavitt 31

BATH — Sierra Wallace led Morse and all scorers with 17 as the Morse girls’ basketball team defeated Leavitt 39-31 on Tuesday.

Wallace nailed two 3-pointers and five free throws in the game. Marija Mecendiz added 10 points for Morse.

Jayden Carpenter led Leavitt with 13, followed by 12 points from Sophie Gilbert. The Hornets fall to 2-4, while Morse gets its first win of the year to move to 1-5.

Boys’ basketball

Bangor 56, Oxford Hills 46

BANGOR — Damien Vance scored 25 to lead Bangor to a 56-46 victory over Oxford Hills in AA North boys’ basketball action Tuesday night.

Vance was helped by Matthew Flemming, who in his first game against his old team scored 12 points and grabbed 16 rebounds.

Colton Carson led the way for the Vikings with 13 points, while Spencer Strong added 12 of his own for Oxford Hills, which falls to 2-3 on the season. Bangor moves to 4-3 with the win.

Rangeley 57, Temple 46

RANGELEY — After trailing by five at halftime, the Rangeley boys’ basketball team came out strong in the second half and pulled away with a 57-46 win over Temple on the road Tuesday.

Kyle LaRochelle led all scorers with 29 points, while Will Brey hit seven free throws to contribute to his total of 11 points.

Ilija Ivkovic led his team with 13 as Temple fell to 2-4. Rangeley moves to 4-3 with the victory.

Leavitt 63, Morse 40

TURNER — Leavitt jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter and never looked back, defeating Morse 63-40 in boys’ basketball action Tuesday.

Wyatt Hathaway led the Hornets with 19 points, and Joziah Learned adding 15.

Leavitt moves to 3-3 on the season after the win, while Morse continues to struggle, falling to 1-5.
