LEWISTON — Roger A. Poulin Sr., 78, of Lewiston, died Friday morning, Jan. 5, at his residence, following a long illness.

He was born in Lewiston on Oct. 14, 1939, the son of the late Antonio and Annette (Asselin), and had been a resident of this community all of his life.

He was educated in Lewiston and Auburn schools and was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1958.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving his country for four years. He was employed for the Union Camp/Allied Container/IP as a tractor-trailer operator for 30 years. He also served with the Auburn Fire Department for eight years.

As a young boy, he played baseball for the Goff Hill Wildcats, played varsity baseball and varsity football as a quarterback for Lewiston High School.

Roger was a member of the Elks Club.

He was an avid golfer and an avid horse owner.

He is survived by his wife, the former Marilyn St. Pierre, whom he married on June 1, 1963, of Lewiston; one son, Roger A. Poulin Jr., and his wife, Michelle, of Lewiston; three daughters, Teri LaBrie and her husband, Greg, of Pelham, N.H., Tina Goss of Fort Worth, Texas, and Brigitte Girardin and her companion, Matt Rickards, of Anson; two brothers, Bert Poulin and his wife, Rolande, of Sun City, Fla., and Robert Poulin and his wife, Joanne, of Lewiston; eight grandchildren, Quinn, Ryan, Erica, Caitlin, Ryan, Nathan, Roger III and Alex; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Amanda LaBrie; and by a sister, Lorraine Landry.
