WEST PARIS — Homer C. Smith Jr., 94, of Bethel, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Ledgeview Living Center.

He was born in Bethel on Nov. 7, 1923, the son of Homer C. Sr. and Lillian Bean Smith. He attended Gould Academy and served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Edith Tyler on July 3, 1952.

He worked for L.E. Davis Lumber Mill, delivered heating oil for Brooks Bros. and C.N. Brown, and worked at Bucky’s filling station.

He was a member of the American Legion Post for 70 years. He had a big hat collection and loved to go for rides. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and horses. He shot his last deer at the age of 82. He always had a smile on his face; everybody loved him dearly.

He is survived by his children: Larry J. Smith and his wife, Sally, Kerry A. Smith and his wife, Diahnn, Bruce E. Smith and his wife, Judy, Douglas L. Smith and his wife, Terri, Christine A. Dame and her husband, Bryan, Dennis E. Smith and his wife, Lisa, and Andrew W. Smith and his wife, Shannon; grandchildren, Zack, Mary, Daniel, Jack, Matthew, Michael, Rochelle, Roxanne, Tim, Adam, Matthew, Bret, Kaylee, Micaela and Hannah; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife; his siblings, Lt. Charles Smith, Gardner Smith, Virginia Hutchins and Elizabeth Mills; and two grandsons, Cody Smith and Shawn Smith.
