AUBURN — Patricia C. Garrity, 90, of Lewiston, died Thursday, Jan. 11, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin.

She was born in Lewiston on March 2, 1927, the daughter of the late Robert Emmet and Josephine (Lintott) Curran. Patricia graduated from Lewiston High School in 1944, then attended Bates College for a year before attending Central Maine General Hospital School of Nursing (now CMMC). While at Bates College she assisted with the study of the pollution of the Androscoggin River. She graduated from the school of nursing as a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps in 1948.

Patricia married Thomas Xavier Garrity in 1949. From 1954 to 1976, they resided in Milford, Conn., where Pat was employed by Pond Point Skilled Nursing Facility. Upon her return to Maine, she did private duty nursing in Lewiston and Auburn until her retirement in 1993.

Patricia was an avid knitter, a previous volunteer at Horizon 55, a member of St. Joseph’s Church, AARP and CMGH-CMMC School of Nursing Alumni Association.

She is survived by three sons: Martin and his wife, Norma, of Guilford, Conn., Mike and his wife, Linda Thibault, of Auburn, and Tim and his wife, Laurie, of Litchfield; grandchildren: Christopher Garrity, Jennifer Turcotte, Theresa Speringo, Penny Santamauro, Tom Garrity and Cheryl Meadows; 13 great-grandchildren; and two loving grandpups, Bella and Willow.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Thomas; and a sister, Jane C. Perkins.

The family would like to thank Pat’s very special friend, Sally Bates, and the doctors and nurses at the hospital and hospice house who gave her exceptional care.
