LEWISTON — Le Paresseux Snowshoe Club of Rumford will host the 110th International Snowshoe Championship Friday, Jan. 26, through Sunday, Jan. 28. 

The weekend will start off on Friday with registration from 2 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., with an opening ceremony at 8 p.m. in the grand ballroom of the Ramada Inn, followed by the Coronation Ball at 10 p.m., where the club will crown a king and queen of the championship.

Saturday morning at 9 a.m., the club will have snowshoe races at the Lewiston Armory on Central Avenue. Lunch break will be at noon, and the races will continue at 1:30 p.m.

Independent snowshoe runners are also welcome to register to race. The size for the snowshoes is no smaller than 8 inches wide and 28 inches long.

There will be a parade at the Ramada Inn at 6:30 p.m. Clubs will be competing for plaques and trophies. The parade will be followed by a dance in the Ramada Inn Grand Ballroom. Noel Palmer and Don Levesque Band will provide the music both Friday and Saturday night. Any former snowshoers from the area are invited to join.

Sunday at 11:30 a.m. there will be a brunch for all who registered for the championship in the grand ballroom of the Ramada Inn, followed by presentation of awards for the weekend events.

Le Paresseux Club of Rumford is celebrating its 90th year as a snowshoe club.
