AUBURN — Auburn police say someone has been calling local residents asking for donations on behalf of local police.
Auburn police do not do that.
“While we appreciate the generous nature of our amazing community,” police wrote on the departments’s Facebook page, “please know that APD will never call you for a financial donation.”
The APD’s advice on how to handle the matter was simple:
“If someone calls you and says they are raising money for the Auburn PD,” officials wrote, “hang up – it is a scam!”
