DEAR SUN SPOTS: For the past two years Dunkin’ Donuts has given refill coffee mugs to Lewiston/Auburn seniors. The first year you had to get the cups from SeniorsPlus, then last year you just switched out the cup at your local Dunkin’ Donuts. Now this year when you ask your local Dunkin’ Donuts, they have no idea about the program. I wonder if there is someone out there who has the answer. There are many rumors about getting a card that will offer 52 cups of coffee a year, but no one really knows if that is true and if there will be a charge. Any information will be great!

ANSWER: I spoke with customer service at a few Dunkin’ Donuts shops in Lewiston and Auburn. Bring in your mug and swap it out for a card that will entitle you to save 99 cents every time you use it to buy a medium coffee. Your grand total will be $1.07, instead of $2.32.

Remember when everyone, regardless of age, could buy a cup of coffee for 10 cents, you got free refills, and it was served in a china cup with a saucer? (Sigh.)

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Is there anyone in the Lewiston-Auburn area who appraises and buys quartz? I have a quartz candle holder I would like to sell.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you or any readers know where an antique clock can be appraised?

— No name, no town

ANSWER: Daniel Buck Auctions at 501 Lisbon St. in Lisbon Falls has the expertise you are both looking for. He offers free verbal appraisals to all those who want to contact him and set an appointment. If you need a written appraisal for insurance or other purposes, he does charge a fee. His number is 207-407-1444. Readers, please write to me if you know an appraiser you would like to recommend!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for the address and phone number for the SHAREcenter. They used to be in Auburn, but I heard they have moved. I love your column as you always have good information.

ANSWER: This place sounds amazing! The SHAREcenter, a nonprofit program that collects tons of materials from business and industry for reuse by schools or other educational programs, is still in Auburn at 33 Industry Ave. The hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1 to 6 p.m. and the first and second Saturday of each month, 9 a.m. to noon.

There is a second location in Topsham at 376 Republic Ave., which is open Wednesdays from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. and the third Saturday of each month, 9 a.m. to noon.

By paying a nominal annual fee, teachers partner with the SHAREcenter to have access to all kinds of amazing items that have been donated by businesses and individuals. You’ll find paper of all kinds, office supplies and even furniture, writing implements, binders and notebooks, lanyards, baseball hats, T-shirts, book bags, fabric, yarn, crafting items, books, puzzles, games, teaching guides, wood pieces, tiles and almost anything else you can imagine. If you would like to donate items, join SHAREcenter, or have a look, call 207-333-6671. SHAREcenter is also on Facebook at Auburn SHAREcenter.
