BANGOR — Senior forward Victoria Harris registered nine points and 10 rebounds as Lewiston edged Bangor 36-34 in girls’ basketball action Thursday evening.

The contest was evenly matched right down to the wire. Freshman guard Jamyah Nicolas hit a 3-pointer with two seconds remaining in regulation for the Blue Devils (5-8).

Freshman forward Maggie Cowperwaite collected a team-high eight points for the Rams in the losing effort.

Spruce Mountain 30, Winthrop 26

WINTHROP — Haley Turcotte scored a team-leading nine points as Spruce Mountain topped Winthrop 30-26 in girls’ basketball action Thursday evening.

The Phoenix (7-7) shut down Winthrop offense in the third quarter with an 8-0 run. Calley Baker added seven points for Spruce Mountain.

Aaliyah WilsonFalcone found the net for five field goals, including a 3-pointer, to lead the Ramblers (7-7) with 11 points in the losing effort.

Lisbon 36, Telstar 21

BETHEL — Sophomore guard Giana Russo notched a game-high 16 points to lead Lisbon to a 36-21 victory over Telstar in girls’ basketball action Thursday evening.

The Greyhounds (5-9) utilized a 2-2-1 halfcourt zone trap to prevent Telstar from getting much traction. Sophomore guard Kiley Merritt pitched in with eight points for Lisbon.

Sophomore guard Aneah Bartlett produced a team-high six points for the Rebels (1-13), while Luci Rothwell posted 19 rebounds in the losing effort.

Oak Hill 47, Mountain Valley 20

WALES — Abby Nadeau posted a game-high 18 points to lead Oak Hill to a 47-20 triumph over Mountain Valley in girls’ basketball action Thursday evening.

The Raiders (11-4) were dominant throughout, taking a 28-6 lead at the midpoint. Desirae Dumais contributed 16 points, while Sadie Waterman provided effective defense for Oak Hill.

Brunswick 55, Leavitt 24

TURNER — Sabrina Armstrong manufactured a team-high 15 points to help power Brunswick past Leavitt 55-24 in girls’ basketball action Thursday evening.

The Dragons took a 16-2 lead in the first quarter. Marley Groat yielded an additional 14 points for Brunswick.

Kayleigh Gilbert and Sophia Gilbert put eight points each on the board for the Hornets in the losing effort.

Boothbay 65, Wiscasset 22

WISCASSET — Page Brown packaged 21 points to lead Boothbay to a 65-22 rout over Wiscasset in girls’ basketball action Thursday evening.

Faith Blethen tallied 13 points, while Glory Blethen posted 12 points for the Seahawks (14-0).

The Wolverines (0-15) remain winless on the season.

Boys’ basketball

Bangor 62, Lewiston 38

LEWISTON — Junior forward Matt Fleming tossed in a dazzling 31 points as Bangor punished Lewiston with a 62-38 triumph in boys’ basketball action Thursday evening.

Fleming scored 15 of his 31 points in the second quarter when the Rams (7-5) went on a 25-0 tear.

Yasin Mohamud paced the Blue Devils (2-11) with eight points in the losing effort.

Brunswick 53, Leavitt 45

TURNER — Senior guard Tanner Hebert drained a game-high 13 points as Brunswick turned up the tempo in the second half for a 53-45 victory over Leavitt in boys’ basketball action Thursday evening.

The Hornets (5-8) took a 35-28 halftime lead. Freshman guard Wyatt Hathaway recorded 10 points, six assists and four steals, while sophomore guard Mark Herman contributed another 10 points.

Cole Morin hauled down 16 rebounds for Leavitt.

The Dragons (10-3) breathed a little fire into their game in the second half, limiting Leavitt to just 10 points over two quarters.
