Hospice staff honors volunteers
LEWISTON — Beacon Hospice staff honored their volunteer team on Dec. 13 with an appreciation banquet at the Chick-A-Dee restaurant.
Volunteer Coordinator Kyla Greenwood honored each volunteer by sharing comments about their work and the compassion they each show the patients.
Volunteers who attended were Steve Bennett, Rhonda Cobb, Scott Kloster, Linda Shaw, Evelyn Marshall, Marie Hebert, Candy Greenwood and Diane Edwards. Sonia Bennett was presented the Heart of Hospice Award for her dedication to hospice volunteering. The team volunteered a total of 1,458 hours in 2017.

Pinochle, pitch players welcome
LEWISTON — Pinochle and pitch card games for seniors are played weekly through May at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave.
New players are always welcome. Pitch is played at 1 p.m. Tuesdays. Pinochle is at 1 p.m. Thursdays. Refresher courses are available in both categories.
The armory is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Players must become a member to participate.
