FARMINGTON — A fire Monday night destroyed a ski timing building and an estimated $20,000 worth of timing equipment at Titcomb Mountain Ski Area, Fire/Rescue Chief Terry Bell said via email Tuesday night.

It was started by an electric heater that was used to keep the timing equipment warm at the ski slope, he said.

The organization does have insurance on the facility, he added.

The ski mountain is a 750-foot slope featuring 16 Alpine trails for all skill levels, from beginner to expert, including a terrain park for skiers and riders, according to its website, www.titcombmountain.com.
