During the past few elections, I have sometimes felt as if I was voting for the least bad choice. When I heard that Terry Hayes was throwing her hat into the ring to be the next governor, I knew that one of my votes was going to be easy this year.

I met Hayes five years ago at the State House when I was looking for answers to a problem facing my community. From our first conversation, it was clear that she was a different kind of public servant — the kind Mainers badly need more of. Watching her in action during these past years has assured me that she serves Maine citizens — not party leaders, not powerful lobbies, and certainly not herself.

For those who want to cast a confident and enthusiastic vote in this year’s governor’s race, I recommend getting to know Terry Hayes.
