LIVERMORE FALLS — A local man accused of setting fire to his father’s garage last month turned himself in to authorities Thursday, after being released from a hospital, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said in a news release.

Colton Webster, 26, was booked at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn, where he remained Friday night. His bail was set at $2,500 cash or $5,000 worth of real estate, a jailer said.

Webster was charged with one count of arson in the Jan. 19 fire at 249 Fayette Road where he lived with his father, Barry Webster, according to the release.

Colton Webster was taken into custody at the scene by Livermore Falls Police Department and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Investigators with the State Fire Marshal’s Office said Webster set fire to cardboard and clothing in the garage and called 911, McCausland wrote.

When firefighters arrived they found smoke and fire in the building, according to Livermore Falls Fire Chief Edward Hastings IV. Firefighters from several departments had the fire out in about five minutes, he wrote in an email.
