LEWISTON — Norman “Stud” Legere, 83, a resident of Livermore Falls, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, following years of failing health. He was born Aug. 19, 1934, in Chisholm, the son of Albany Legere and Madeline (Richard) Legere. He was a graduate of St. Rose of Lima School and attended Jay High School. He married Jo Ann Hawley on Dec. 29, 1962, St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, and they had four sons, Randy, Greg, Steve and Ken; they later divorced.
He worked for International Paper Co. at the Otis and Androscoggin mills in Jay, retiring after 33 years of service. Following retirement he worked for several years at Finley Funeral Home in Livermore Falls. Norman was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. He was a former member of AMVETS Post 33 in Jay and a member of the International Paper Co. Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing and traveling. He loved time spent with his sons and grandchildren, and also going for rides with his son, Greg.
He is survived by his sons, Greg Legere of Livermore Falls, Steve Legere and wife, Damarie, of Florida, and Ken Legere and his wife, Jody, of Greene; seven grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; brothers; Eddy Legere and wife, Theresa, of Orono, Louis Legere and wife, Patricia of Calif., Fidele Legere and wife, Patricia, of Ind., and Daniel Legere and wife, Ruth, of Tenn; and his sisters, Eva Davenport of Tenn,, and Julie Smith and husband, Maurice, of Jay. He was predeceased by his parents; his son, Randy Legere; his brothers, Leo Legere and Richard Legere; and his sister, Doris Blais.
