MEXICO — A blanket of fresh snow and mild temps made for a terrific Blessing of the Sleds event Saturday outside Mountain Valley Middle School.
The 21st annual event is the major fundraiser for the Trailblazers and Poodunck snowmobile clubs. For the first time, both clubs had their groomers there, with the event banner hung between them as the 40 participating snowmobilers traveled beneath.
Blessing the snowmobilers was Pastor Izzy Radford-Nash of the Mexico Congregational Church, with Chris Bryant of the Trailblazers accepting donations and Don Johnson of Poodunck passing out Blessing of the Sleds stickers.
People enjoyed a variety of foods cooked outside: “fair sausage,” hot dogs, burgers and fries.
There was a 50/50 drawing, raffles and an inside poker run. Several wore their new “Blessing” sweatshirts at the event.
Also at the event, the Mexico Bicentennial Committee held a winter fun day and Hope Association conducted its annual Ride-In.
