SABATTUS — Carroll A. Ritchie, age 81, of F. Sanborn Road, died Sunday, Feb. 11, at his home after a sudden illness.

Born in Monmouth on Dec. 24, 1936, the son of the late Charles and Fern (Connors) Ritchie, he was educated in both Smyrna and Fayette before entering the electrical program at Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute, and later became a master electrician.

Carroll was an avid outdoorsman, including hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and traveling.

He is survived by his companion, Linda Ritchie, of Auburn; three daughters, Joan Hall and her husband, Scott, of Lewiston, Susan Ritchie and her husband, Michael Buckley, of Monmouth, and Jean Adamen and her husband, Peter, of Turner; one son, Jeffrey Ritchie, and his fiancee, Michelle Brown, of Sabattus; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Hatfield, of Auburn; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and his dog, “Rocky.”

Carroll was predeceased by his son, Rodney Ritchie, in 2014; four brothers, Richard, Charles, Floyd and Victor Ritchie; and by two sisters, Doris Franklin and Violet Ward.
