LEWISTON — Madeline N. Veilleux, 89, of Lewiston, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Montello Manor in Lewiston. Madeline was born in Livermore Falls on May 8, 1928, the daughter of Arthur and Blanche Cloutier Nadeau. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of ’46. Madeline graduated from the St. Mary’s School of Nursing in 1949.
She married Norman R. Veilleux in 1952, and shared 63 years of marriage together before his passing on March 8, 2015. She worked as a registered nurse in the Lewiston area, including as a private duty nurse, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, where she also served as a past president of the St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center Patronesses and as camp nurse for Camp Fernwood in Poland on Thompson Lake. In her younger years, she enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Survivors include one son, Pierre, and wife, Judy, of Lewiston; one daughter, Marie Murphy, of Lewiston; a son-in-law, Stanley Stromme, of Ketchikan, Ark.; a sister, Arline Pelletier, of Lewiston; four grandsons, Philip, Eric and Jonathan Veilleux, and Kristopher Murphy and his companion, Chelsea, and her daughter, Isabella; and a great-granddaughter, Katina Murphy. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by her sister, Georgette Roberge, and her daughter, Rachel Stromme.
