BATH — The Chocolate Church Arts Center announces a concert by Windborne as part of the Kill The Chill concerts series in the Annex, 804 Washington St. The four Windborne singers present stunningly powerful vocal harmony that will fill the Annex at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24.

Polyphonic music produces many sounds simultaneously. It is a many-voiced art form that involves vocal music in two or more parts, each having a melody of its own.

Windborne have studied polyphonic vocal music for more than 15 years from traditional singing masters from cultures around the world. Windborne is as comfortable with an improvised Corsican couplet song as an English ballad

Lynn Mahoney Rowan, Will Thomas Rowan, Lauren Breunig and Jeremy Carter-Gordon share a vibrant energy onstage — their connection to each other and to the music clearly evident. They educate as they entertain, telling stories about the music and explaining the characteristics and stylistic elements of the traditions in which they sing. They describe themselves as, “picking up the torch of protest folk song for the next generation … old songs for new struggles.”

Tickets are $15 advance/$17 at the door. Seating is limited. Tickets are available by calling the box office at 207-442-8455 or at www.chocolatechurcharts.org.
