DEAR SUN SPOTS: Our Sewing/Quilting Group will meet Feb. 22 from noon to 4 p.m. at A.B. Ricker Memorial Library in Poland. Cynthia Maxwell will teach us how to make a quilted table runner. The class is free and all are welcome. You will need to bring half a yard each of two contrasting fabrics, 3/4 of a yard of fabric for the backing, and 3/4 of a yard of thin polyester batting. Thin batting is preferred so the runner will not be too bulky. The class is small and levels of expertise include beginners and those with more experience. Also, if you have fabric, thread and other sewing supplies to donate for our class, we can always use them. If you have any questions, call the library at 207-998-4390. Thank you for your help!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: High Street Congregational Church is seeking donations of fabric and craft supplies for our annual Fabric and Craft Supply Fair on April 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donations of fabric, yarn and craft supplies may be dropped off Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: You are so helpful. When I see the Joe Bornstein commercial that Robert Vaughn used to do, there is now a white-haired gentleman who does it. I’m wondering who he is.

ANSWER: According to Bornstein Marketing Director Nathan Bergeron, the “white-haired gentleman” is character actor Eric Pierpoint, best known for his role as George Francisco on Fox Network’s “Alien Nation.” He has many other credits to his acting career, including appearing on all the “Star Trek” television spin-offs.

Nate also assured me that even though the firm has a nationally known spokesperson, all the attorneys associated with Joe Bornstein only practice law and live in Maine. Lewiston is just one of seven office locations. Joe is a Portland native. The firm has been in business since 1974. Robert Vaughn did their commercials for 20 years so it’s understandable that viewers are still getting used to a different face and a different voice commanding them to dial “1-800-CALLJOE!
