NORWAY — Officer John Lewis and his police dog Bolo were not hurt when a deer ran in front of the cruiser in Woodstock this month, Town Manager Dennis Lajoie told selectmen last week.
According to the crash report by Oxford County Deputy James McLamb, Lewis was driving south on Gore Road when he struck a deer crossing the snowy road Feb. 8.
Lajoie said there was about $2,000 damage to the driver’s side front quarter panel.
“We notified our insurance company about the accident,” Lajoie said.
“All that matters is that John is fine and Bolo is fine,” Chairman Warren Sessions Jr. said.
In other business Thursday, the board voted unanimously to accept the resignation of school board member Michael Marshal, who moved to Oxford.
Selectman Russell Newcomb suggested the board send a letter to Marshall “thanking him for his service to the town.”
“I agree,” Sessions said. “We should also thank him for serving on other boards. I know he served on a lot of boards and committees over the years.”
The board appointed Curtis Cole to fill the post until annual town elections in June.
Sessions said Cole, a longtime school board member for Paris, moved to Norway and would be a “great fit” for the vacancy.
