AUGUSTA — The Boothbay Region High School girls basketball team’s tournament run started slower than the Seahawks expected.
They quickly made up for lost time.
Page Brown scored 24 points and top-seeded Boothbay rolled past No. 9 Traip Academy, 59-40, in the Class C South quarterfinals at the Augusta Civic Center.
Boothbay remained unbeaten at 19-0 and will face No. 4 Madison in the semifinals. Traip fell to 9-11.
The high-powered Seahawks struggled to find their rhythm out of the gate, going the first three minutes of the game without a field goal, but recovered to take an 18-4 lead by the end of the first. Boothbay never looked back, building its lead to 36-12 by halftime and 51-25 after three.
Faith Blethen scored eight points, all in the first half, while Sydney Meader added eight points for the Seahawks. Chloe Arsenault chipped in with six.
Cassidy Delano led the Rangers with 12 points, while Reilly Eddy added nine.
