PARIS — The 2018 McLaughlin Garden lecture series will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 28, when Sue McIntire of Longfellow’s Greenhouses presents an illustrated lecture on perennials.

McIntire, who talked about new perennials in Maine gardens during last year’s lecture series, plans to aim her comments at discriminating gardeners. All gardeners, experienced and novice, are welcome.

Longfellow’s Greenhouses in Manchester has been a longtime supporter of the McLaughlin Garden. McIntire, who has worked at Longfellow’s for 18 years, has professional licenses as a Maine certified sustainable landscaper and a Maine certified nurseryman.

The illustrated lecture will begin at 4 p.m. upstairs in the historic Tribou home at 97 Main St., South Paris, where Bernard McLaughlin lived with his wife. Tea will be served at 3:30. The lecture is free and open to the public. Parking is just to the north of Maurice’s; a driveway will be plowed.

This is the first of six lectures held weekly on Wednesday afternoons. Donations will be accepted for the preservation of the buildings and garden.
