Monmouth Academy senior guard Tia Day is among 10 semifinalists for Maine’s Miss Basketball announced on Wednesday.

The award is given annually to the top senior girls’ basketball player in the state by the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC). The winner will be announced March 9 at the Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star banquet in Bangor.

Day, who led the Mustangs to a Class C state title as a junior, will be playing in the Class C South semifinals on Thursday as second-seeded Monmouth (18-1) takes on No. 6 Richmond. 

This season, Day, a Mountain Valley Conference first team all-star, led the Mustangs with 10.9 points and 2.9 steals per game. She led the conference with 7.1 assists per game and was also its most prolific 3-point shooter, averaging 2.2 made per game.

The other semifinalists are Boothbay’s Page Brown, Abby Cavallaro of Cheverus, Kolleen Bouchard of Houlton, Medomak Valley’s Gabby DePatsy, Allysa Turner of Messalonskee, Emily Wheaton of Presque Isle, Sophie Glidden of Scarborough, and South Portland’s Meghan Graff and Eva Mazur.

The 10 Mr. Basketball semifinalists are: Finn Bowe of Cape Elizabeth, Max Mattson and Taylor Schildroth of George Stevens Academy, Ian McIntyre of Hampden Academy, Hermon’s Jacob Godfrey and Keenan Marseille, Terion  Moss of Portland, Westbrook’s Zac Manoogian, Nick Curtis of Windham, and Yarmouth’s Nolan Hagerty.

The MABC will announce the three finalists for each award following this weekend’s regional finals.

The MABC also announced the participants in the annual all-star game, which will be held March 10 at Newman Gymnasium on the campus of Husson University. 

The following local players and coaches were were named all-stars.

Girls AA/A/B North — Piper Norcross, Edward Little; Nate Pelletier, Oxford Hills (coach).

Girls AA/A/B South — Nathalie Theriault,  Poland; Tim Dolley, Poland (coach).

Girls C/D South — Abbey Allen, Monmouth; Tia Day, Monmouth; Natasha Haley, Rangeley.

Boys AA/A/B South — Jonah Sautter, Lisbon; Mason Shink, Spruce Mountain.

Boys C/D South — Cooper Chiasson, Dirigo.

All-stars were selected via a statewide vote of high school coaches conducted by the MABC in January.

Maighread Laliberte of Oxford Hills and Jordan Daigle of Spruce Mountain were named to the all-state academic teams. One boy and one girl will be selected among the 10 members of each academic team for a $2,000 academic scholarship, to be announced at the awards banquet.

Kaeti Butterfiled of Monmouth and Marshall Doyon of Mt. Blue were named girls’ and boys’ foul shooting central region champions, respectively.

In addition to the four games, the all-star festivities also include a girl’s three-point shootout competition and the Dr. Pepper Slam Dunk Contest.

Tickets for the all-star games are $8 for adults and $5 for students and children age 12 and  under. They can be purchased on March 10 at Husson University and are good for all four games and events. Net proceeds benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine.

Last year’s event raised a record $47,895.
