DEAR SUN SPOTS: Leavitt Area High School’s Class of 2018 Project Graduation Auction will take place Saturday, March 31, in the Leavitt cafeteria at the school on Matthews Way. The auction preview begins at 9 a.m., with the live auction getting under way at 10 a.m.

Project Graduation is a safe, healthy, fun and memorable all-night celebration for the graduating class on the night of graduation. Anyone interested in donating may still do so. The committee working on Project Graduation is looking for donations of quality items, vouchers for useful services and/or cash donations. We so appreciate the new items coming in daily.

For more information about the auction, contact Stacy Santomango at 212-3235. Donations may be mailed to “2018 Project Graduation Committee,” P.O. Box 96, Turner, 04282.

ANSWER: The Dempsey Center is at 29 Lowell Street, 5th Floor, in Lewiston. Please call first before dropping by. Sometimes the organization has other needs you all can help with.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Next year the Stanton Bird Club will celebrate its 100th anniversary as a local organization dedicated to protecting the outdoors and helping Lewiston-Auburn residents get out into nature. As part of the celebration, students at Bates College will be helping to gather local memories of their visits to Thorncrag Nature Sanctuary. What has Thorncrag meant to you? Do you have a story, picture, or memory you’d be willing to share? Your contributions will help this wonderful organization celebrate its achievements and plan for the future.

If you have something to share or are willing to be interviewed by students, please contact Jane Costlow at 786-6289 or jcostlow@bates.edu.

— Jane, no town

ANSWER: I applaud Bates students who are willing to undertake this project. In my mind, nothing is more important than the power of stories. These narratives will not only preserve the history and beauty of Thorncrag but honor all who have been involved in the Stanton Bird Club and have carried on so much conservation work in the area for so many years.
