FARMINGTON — Franklin County Republicans will caucus at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Roberts Learning Center at the University of Maine Farmington.
Oxford County Replublicans to caucus
BETHEL — Northern Oxford County Regional Republican will caucus at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at Telstar High School, 284 Walkers Mills Road.
New knitting group to meet
HARRISON — A new knitting group will start meeting from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Mondays at the Caswell Conservancy Center on Main Street.
The group is open to all regardless of experience.
SeniorsPlus at Wilton library
WILTON — SeniorsPlus will be at the Wilton Free Public Library the first Thursday of every month from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The organization will be on hand to answer any questions or concerns about services and resources for older adults and adults with disabilities and their families.

AMVETS Post 777 to meet
PARIS — AMVETS Post 777, which serves the Oxford Hills, holds monthly meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month at the American Legion, 12 Church Street.

NEW SHARON — Jim Ditzler Memorial Library will host Bee a Reader! Story Hour from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays, March 1, 15 and 29.

Student to speak on War of 1812
HARRISON — Liam Opie, a junior at Lake Region High School, will return to the Caswell Conservancy Center on Thursday, March 1, to speak on the War of 1812, a conflict between the new nation and Great Britain. Opie will cover key battles in Canada, Washington, D.C., and New Orleans, as well as Maine’s involvement in the war.
Opie presented an informational evening based on knowledge of the history of American Civil War last June.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with the presentation beginning at 7. All those interested in the War of 1812 and its impact on American history and involvement by Maine are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
Community Heart & Soul meeting
BRYANT POND — A representative from Mahoosuc Heart & Soul will present an informational program at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at the Whitman Memorial Library.
For the past year a team of volunteers has been following the Community Heart & Soul process developed by the Orton Family Foundation. This is a two-year project to help guide future decision-making in the region of Woodstock, Greenwood, Newry, Bethel and the surrounding townships based on the values of the people who live in the areas.
More public input is needed about projects that residents would like to see happen in the next year and several years down the road. A representative will also be at annual town meetings in the area in March.
The free program is open to the public and light refreshments will be served. If there is no school in SAD 44, there will be no program.
Texas Hold’Em poker
PARIS — The AMVETS monthly Texas Hold’Em poker tournaments are held at from 5 p.m. to midnight on the first Friday of the month at the American Legion Hall.
The event is open to the public. The Auxiliary will have a food concession open from 5 p.m. until the end of second break. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. Buy-in is usually $50 with a license fee of $5 and an optional $5 High Hand.
