LEWISTON — The John Alley Maine Doubles Horseshoe Pitching Tournament was held on Saturday February 10 at the Maine Indoor Horseshoe Club in Lewiston. 21 teams each consisting of two players each competed for championships in three divisions. This National Horseshoe Pitchers Association (NHPA) attracted teams from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. The A division was won by the team of Charlie Lytle from Cape Neddick and Phil Ring from Auburn. The Lytle/Ring team pitched 143 ringers out of 312 tries for a ringer percentage of 45.83. The B division was won by the team of Gary Currier from Brunswick and Doug Frazier from Greene. The Currier/Frazier team pitched 97 ringers out of 312 tries for a ringer percentage of 31.09. The C division was won by Garrett Joslyn from Whitefield and Mike Knox from Belgrade. The Joslyn/Knox team pitched 47 ringers out of 312 tries for a ringer percentage of 15.06.
