AUBURN — Robert A. Preo, of Auburn, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, at home in Auburn following a battle with throat cancer. He was born in Lewiston on Sept. 6, 1937, the son of George and Lucille Rivard Preo. Bob was educated in the Auburn schools.

In 1954, he joined the United States Air Force and served four years. He then joined the United States Navy and retired after 21 years of service. While in the Navy, he was attached to a Marine unit and served one year in Vietnam as a field kitchen operator. He earned his GED and later attended college in Florida. Bob loved to sing and was known in the karaoke clubs.

He is survived by a son, Kenneth Preo, a daughter, Sharon Preo, both of Lakeland, Fla.; a sister, Doris Walsh, of Brookfield, Wis.; and a very special aunt, Del, of Auburn. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Diane Landry.
