Leavitt auction seeks donations

TURNER — The Leavitt Area High School Class of 2018 Project Graduation Auction will take place Saturday, March 31, in the Leavitt cafeteria, Matthews Way. The preview will begin at 9 a.m., with the live auction getting under way at 10.

Project Graduation is a safe all-night celebration for the graduating class on the night of graduation.

Anyone interested in donating may still do so. The committee working on Project Graduation is looking for donations of quality items, vouchers for useful services and/or cash donations.

High school art scholarship contest open

LIBERTY — Liberty Graphics, environmentally conscious T-shirt printers, is accepting art submissions for its 21st annual $1,000 art scholarship contest. All high school seniors residing in Maine are invited to submit original works that reflect on the theme of “Art and Our Natural Environment.”

Entries must be traditional two dimensional media and must be postmarked by Monday, March 19. Photography, sculpture and computer-generated work cannot be considered. Each student may submit more than one piece of work.

Entry forms are available through high school art teachers or by visiting the About Liberty Graphics page at lgtees.com.

The award is intended to aid and encourage students in the pursuit of their artistic experiences and learning. The winner will be announced in early April. Art will be returned in late April.

Animals in Spiritualism workshop

SABATTUS — An Animals in Spiritualism workshop will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at the Spiritualist Church of Eternal Life, 352 Crowley Road. Cost is $20 a person.

The workshop will help participants develop communication with Spirit. The focus will be with animal communications, meanings and messages they may give. Those wishing may bring a picture of their pet.

Open Observatory Night at Twitchell

PARIS — The Monthly Open Observatory Night at Twitchell Observatory will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, March 2, weather permitting. Alternate date will be Saturday, March 3. It is free.

Volunteers will show visitors many winter sky objects, including “star nursery” Orion Nebula, Beehive Cluster, Pleiades and Andromeda Galaxy.
