The Parkland school shooting in Florida again raises the point that this nation has a problem that has not been solved, even after previous mass shootings.

The nation’s children and grandchildren are at risk. The problem is that simple.

Mental health problems and guns seem to be connected in the school and other mass shootings. Mental health issues must be made as “normal” as other diseases.

Maine and other states must make serious background checks the norm for everyone.

Schools must be made more secure, safer.

The U.S. Congress must act to save the nation’s children. Officials have taken too long. People have talked, and forgotten, after others have buried their children who were killed in previous mass school shootings.

Our children and grandchildren are worth saving.

Let me repeat that sentence: Our children and grandchildren are worth saving.

We, the people, must act now.
