AUBURN — Therese M. Gahagan, 86, of Auburn, died Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin, following a long illness.

She was born in Lewiston on Aug. 7, 1931, the daughter of the late Louis and Blanche (Gosselin) Parent and had been a resident of this community all of her life and had lived on Crest Avenue in Auburn since 1952.

She was educated in local schools and was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Auburn. Therese loved the outdoors, fishing, gardening, doing puzzles and especially enjoyed the holidays.

She is survived by two sons, David Knowlton and his companion, Elizabeth Girard, of Saco, and Thomas Knowlton of Augusta; one daughter, Nancy Lee Keough, and her husband, Arthur, of Auburn; one sister, Jeanne Grady, of Auburn; one brother-in-law, the Rev. William Gahagan, of Tennessee; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Knowlton; and by her second husband, James Gahagan.
