A tangled mess of wood, metal, insulation and dangling wires was all that remained of Elmer’s Pipe Inc. Tuesday night after an accumulation of snow, ice and slush caused the roof to cave in shortly after 9 p.m. The front door to the unoccupied building on Old Hotel Road, Auburn, was blown 50 feet away due to the pressure, said Capt, Richard “Mac” McFadden, who estimated property damage to be at least $200,000.
