COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Lewiston’s Isaiah Harris is the 2018 NCAA Indoor national runner-up in the 800 meters.
Harris, a junior at Penn State, finished the event in 1:46.08 to earn second place at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday.
UTEP sophomore Michael Saruni won the race with a new meet record, 1:45.15. Wake Forest junior Robert Heppenstall was third, eight-tenths of a second behind Harris.
It is the first indoor track and field All-American certificate for Harris, who was seeded fourth after Friday qualifying.
Casco native Kate Hall, a sophomore at Georgia, earned her second All-America honor of the weekend by capturing sixth place in the 60 meters with a time of 7.24 seconds. Hall won the long jump championship Friday.
Hall helped the Bulldogs win their first women’s national title with 61 points. Arkansas was second with 49.
Harris and the Nittany Lions tied with Syracuse for 10th in the men’s standings. Florida won the championship.
