FARMINGTON — Franklin County Soil & Water is sponsoring a Pond Building and Maintenance Workshop on Wednesday, April 4, at the Farmington Municipal Building’s downstairs conference room.
Topics will include pond planning, design and construction, with heavy emphasis on maintaining an existing pond. A DEP permitting professional will discuss when and where permits are needed. Time will be available for individual questions and answers.
The instructors are NRCS Engineer Candi Benwitz, Lewiston, and Bobby van Riper, retired fisheries biologist from Maine Inland Fisheries & Wildlife. A field site visit will be held, weather permitting.
Four recertification credit hours (1.5 years) will be allowed for certified contractors. Email info@franklincswcd.org for a registration form, go to the FaceBook page (FCSWCD) or visit www.Franklincswcd.org.
Preregistration is required. The fee is $45 by Wednesday, March 28, and $55 after that date.
