Teams of high school skiers from Maine, Vermont, New York, New Hampshire and Massachusetts are competing for the NENSA (New England Nordic Ski Association) High School Championships at Black Mountain in Rumford this weekend.

Each state’s team consists of 24 boys and 24 girls.

Vermont leads the team standings after three events. Sunday’s mixed relay is the final event.

Maine is sitting in fourth place after Saturday’s 7.5-kilometer race. Mt. Blue’s Meghan Charles was the tri-county area’s highest girl finisher at 41st place. Leavitt’s Roy Varney had the area’s highest boys finish, 54th.
