AUBURNThe Auburn Public Library has announced April activities for teens.

Maine Job Corps: Teens and new adults, ages 16 to 24, who are interested should contact Cathie Gavett of the Maine Job Corps at 207-458-5369 to find out more about the program and who is eligible. She will arrange a mutually convenient time to meet at the library.

Teens! Library Advisory Board: 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, Edward Little High School Library, and 2:30 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, APL Teen Space. The board (LAB) is a joint venture between the Auburn Public Library and the library at Edward Little High School. Its mission is to create more awareness of and collaboration between both libraries, promoting everything the libraries offer to the teens. LAB meets bi-weekly, alternating meetings between the Auburn Public Library and Edward Little. Teens interested in joining should be between ages 12 and 18, interested in community involvement and a lover of the library. FMI: contact either McCurdy at EL or Donna at APL.

Tweens in the Teen Space: noon to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, April 4, 11 and 25, Teen Space. Sixth-graders are invited to meet in the Teen Space on half-day Wednesdays. There will be crafts or board games available, hang out or get a head start on homework.

Teens! Homework Help: 2:30 to 4 p.m. Thursdays, April 5, 12 and 26, second floor. Check in at the reference desk. Get help with time management, schedule planning, goal setting and learn how to be successful with homework. For teens in grades seven to 12. Will include a healthy snack.

Teen Anime Club: 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 5 (note day change this month only), in the Androscoggin Community Room. Teens ages 12 to 18 can drop in to talk about their favorite (or least favorite) manga, watch the week’s selection of anime and try a hand at drawing characters. Snacks will be provided.

SAPARS Drop-in Visit: 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, Teen Space. Visit with Julia, an Advocate from Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services. She will discuss the issues important to teens, including consent, bullying, sexual assault and harassment, bystander intervention and internet safety. Visits may include questions and answers, educational videos or activities. All teens are welcome.

Teens! Gaming Hour: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, April 11 and 25, Androscoggin Community Room, for  ages 12 to 18.

Teens! DIY Takeover: Poetry & Pancakes: 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, Teen Space, for do-it-yourself craft. Since April is National Poetry Month, the library will offer Poetry & Pancakes. Teens are invited to bring their own poetry to share or favorite poem to read. Then they will make pancakes. For teens ages 12 to 18.

Teens! Earth Day Celebration: 3 to 4 p.m.Thursday, April 19, Teen Space. Sunday, April 22, is Earth Day, so a celebration will be held. There will be tips for on how to celebrate Earth Day, along with a couple of themed activities. For teens ages 12 to 18.

Teens Matinee Movie: “Dead Poets Society” (PG): 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, April 20, Androscoggin Community Room. Continue to celebrate National Poetry with “Dead Poets Society.” Robin Williams stars as English teacher John Keating, who “inspires his students to look at poetry with a different perspective of authentic knowledge and feelings.” For teens ages 12 to 18. There will be a snack.

Teen Life Skills: Teen Finance Tips: 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, Conference Room. The 2018 Teen Life Skills series will conclude with Money Smart Week. The presentation will include tips and discussions about financial instruments like a checkbook, debit card and credit card, student loans vs career choices, what is debt, importance of credit score, budgeting basics and more. For teens ages 12 to 18.
