NORWAY — Local artist Beverly LaVerdiere will display her artwork at the Main Street Gallery, 426 Main St., during April.
LaVerdiere is the Western Maine Art Group’s artist of the month.
“Most of my paintings are painted from photos which I take while I am out for a walk,” she said. “I carry my camera and just look and enjoy. I stop to photograph when I see something that is interesting, unusual or beautiful.
“I prefer to paint from photos because the facts are always there. I can delete, include or rearrange the elements to make a statement that is interesting to me; what made me want to paint it,” she said.
A public reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 6, at the gallery. Refreshments will be served.
The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information, art classes, demonstrations and special trips sponsored by the Western Maine Art Group, visit westernmaineartgroup.org and facebook, Main Street Gallery.
The gallery is free and open to the public.
