I am deeply concerned about the new federal tax cut that will mostly hurt women, children and people with disabilities.

I started my career working with children from my community who have mental disabilities, and my work inspires me to advocate more and help people with special needs. My work career also led me to study political science to better understand the policies and decision-making process that affect our public lives.

I have seen teenagers and adults who developed skills because they had Affordable Care Act coverage and thus had access to health professionals’ assistance. Affordable health care creates hope and sometimes leads to real success for people with mental disabilities. I believe that no one chooses to have an illness or disability.

I wonder why Rep. Bruce Poliquin voted for a tax bill that is enriching the richest among us and corporations, instead of representing his constituents from Maine? I call on Congressman Poliquin to stand up for the interest of Mainers and not for the interests of millionaires and billionaires.
