Eagles to host Mountain Valley Kids Fest

RUMFORD — The Rumford Eagles will host a Mountain Valley Kids Fest for Child Advocacy on Saturday, May 19, for the benefit of bettering the health, safety and welfare of youth.

Support agencies will be in attendance, and Eagles members are looking for more groups to participate.

The Eagles meet at 6:30 p.m. every Thursday at the Rumford Eagles Bingo Hall for planning. It is open for anyone who wishes to participate or has ideas for the event.

Historical society to elect officers 

BUCKFIELD — The Buckfield Historical Society will meet Thursday, April 12, at the Buckfield Town Hall.

There will be a social hour from 6 to 7 p.m. and the meeting will start at 7 when election of officers will be held. Members will discuss revisions of some by-laws.

Selfie Scavenger Hunt at Paris Public Library

PARIS — The Paris Public Library will host a Selfie Scavenger Hunt, the Outside Edition, during school vacation from Monday through Friday, April 16 to 20.

Participants must complete the selfie challenges, showing one of the library’s staff the photos they took, by 6 p.m. Friday, April 20. All ages are welcome to participate. Checklists of the required photos will be available at the circulation desk starting Monday, April 16.

Each person who finishes will receive a prize and will be entered into a drawing for one of the three grand prizes, a gift certificate for books.

Garden club to hear speaker at meeting

FARMINGTON — The Mt. Blue Area Garden Club will meet Tuesday, April 17, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Farmington Falls Road. UMF Biology Professor Ron Butler will speak on “Dragonflies and Damselflies.”

A social half hour will begin at 12:30 p.m., will be followed by the program at 1.
