Society to see decades of Farmington
FARMINGTON — University of Maine Farming student Layne Nason will present her senior project “Farmington Through the Decades: Memories from Local Residents” to the Farmington Historical Society Monday, April 23, at North Church, 118 High St.
The event will start with a 6 p.m. potluck supper followed by the presentation and a short meeting. Those attending are welcome to share their Farmington memories.
Local students on team that takes first
LIMESTONE — The Maine School of Science and Mathematics (MSSM) took first place in the Maine State Math Meet held at the Augusta Civic Center on April 3. More than 900 students participated, and MSSM representatives won five medals.
The MSSM Math Team consisted of 10 students, including Wyatt Giroux, a senior from Wales, and Ethan Winters, a junior from Farmington.
Giroux said, “I feel like the Maine Association of Math Leagues has been helpful in preparing me for the critical thinking that I will need in engineering, which is what I plan to study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.”
Five of the 10 members earned medals at the event. Winters received first place for 11th-graders and seventh for the regular season.
Hospital Auxiliary seeks items for yard sale
RUMFORD — The Rumford Hospital Auxiliary is seeking items for its yard sale on Saturday, May 19. The Auxiliary accepts everything except major appliances and clothing. Furniture, rugs, kitchen goods, books and office items are big sellers. All proceeds are donated to Rumford Hospital.
Members of the Auxiliary will be at 209 Lincoln Ave. Friday mornings throughout May to accept donations from the public. Pick-up of donations can be arranged by calling 207-364-3648.
