Wells Fargo & Company on Monday announced a grant in the amount of $15,000 to support a Habitat for Humanity of Greater Bangor build in Old Town as part of the Team Member Volunteer Program (TMVP). Habitat Bangor and Wells Fargo volunteers will commit more than sixty hours between August 15, 2018 and June 30, 2019 to help build three affordable condo units in Old Town.

These condominium units will provide three families with stable, secure housing, helping their children do better in school, creating a healthier community and enabling the parents to improve the family’s financial situation. Dozens of Wells Fargo team members representing several businesses including Wells Fargo Advisors, Auto, Middle Market Banking community banking and Home Lending will volunteer their time working on the Old Town build.

“Habitat Bangor’s neighborhood revitalization efforts rely on partnerships with organizations like Wells Fargo to solve a variety of issues associated with neighborhoods throughout the country,” said Lynn Hempen, Habitat Bangor’s executive director. “With the support of great partners like Wells Fargo, we hope these efforts will have a ripple effect in communities—showcasing that when we work together small changes can make a big impact.”

Made possible in part by funding provided through the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation and team member volunteerism, Wells Fargo is participating in several such efforts across the country this year. Wells Fargo Housing Foundation supports local neighborhood revitalization initiatives with local nonprofits such as Habitat Bangor to construct, repair and rehabilitate affordable housing.

“We have a rich history of working with Habitat Bangor to strengthen our neighborhoods through philanthropy and volunteerism,” said Katy Wood, Small Business Strategy Consultant with Wells Fargo community banking customer segments group. “This effort will help revitalize Old Town and is an example of the positive impact that can be achieved with thoughtful public-private collaboration.”

Since its inception in 1993, the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation has invested more than $190 million to such efforts, along with mobilizing more than 4.78 million team member volunteer hours to build and rehabilitate nearly 7,600 homes and counting. Wells Fargo Housing Foundation’s Team Member Volunteer Program has mobilized more than 175,000 volunteers to build or refurbish nearly 7,000 homes in low-to-moderate income communities. As part of Wells Fargo’s 2020 Corporate Social Responsibility Commitment, Wells Fargo has pledged to help to build and improve 1,000 homes by 2020 in support of affordable housing initiatives serving low-and moderate-income households, including for seniors and veterans.
