I am writing in support of Ned Claxton’s candidacy for the District 20 Senate seat.

I met Claxton recently and was impressed with the fact that he listened much more than he spoke. It is apparent that he cares for people and will do what he can to address the challenges facing the people of Maine.

I related my experiences navigating the mental health system in this state — a system that is overworked, underfunded and often ineffective in addressing the needs of critically ill clients. As a physician, he understood the issues and their importance.

In addition, I applaud the fact that Claxton is running as a clean election candidate. Candidates who accept big money from private donors are influenced by that in their decision-making.

I am encouraged by Ned Claxton’s candidacy and urge others to support someone who listens, works hard and is free from the influence of private interests.
