READFIELD — Leavitt started rolling in the middle innings of a 12-4 win over Maranacook in a KVAC softball action Wednesday.
The Hornets scored four times in the top of the fourth and added five more runs in the fifth. They scored single runs in the first, second and sixth innings.
Leah Maheux had a pair of hits including a double and three runs batted in. Annika Mitchell also had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Hannah Chouinard also had two runs batted in and a double.
Kaylee Jones led the Black Bears offense with a double and a single. She also had an RBI.
Boys’ lacrosse
Mt. Ararat 8, Oak Hill 6
WALES — Zach Cavotte, Alex Bryant and Jake Sargent each had a pair of goals in Mt. Ararat’s 8-6 boys’ lacrosse victory over Oak Hill on Wednesday.
Sargent also had two assists. Keegan Brown and Owen Kelley each had a goal in the victory. Logan Jackson made 20 saves.
Xavier Michaud led the Raiders with three goals and an assist. Riley Worth had two goals, and Noah Moring had one.
Brandon Glover had 20 saves in the loss.
Baseball
Maranacook 3, Leavitt 2
READFIELD — Dan Garand allowed two runs on four hits while striking out 10 in a complete game to lead Maranacook past Leavitt 3-2 in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B baseball action Wednesday.
Avery Beckwith had an RBI single to drive in Jackson McPhedran from second base for the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh inning for Maranacook (3-1).
Orem Shaw tripled for Leavitt (1-2), while David Herman doubled.
