FARMINGTON — After losing a squeaker two years ago, Scott Landry is again seeking to represent District 13 in the Maine House of Representatives.

With incumbent Rep. Lance Harvell, R-Farmington, stepping down at the end of his term, Landry will face Republican Paul Brown in the Nov. 6 general election.

Brown said his background in education and his “ability to examine the facts of issues important to us and my caring demeanor” show a commitment to service that should appeal to residents of the district’s two towns, Farmington and New Sharon.

Landry, a Democrat, said he believes he is “in touch with the residents” of the area and can represent their concerns at the State House.

“I love life here in Franklin County and will do all I can to promote the area and economic growth,” Landry said.

Brown said the towns “deserve representation from a person who will listen to their concerns, evaluate the benefits of changes in new legislation” and make well-informed decisions.

Both men are retired, live in Farmington and are running as Clean Election candidates, meaning their campaigns will be publicly financed through the Maine Clean Election Act.

Brown was a middle school educator for decades and has been active in adult education and volunteer activities.

Landry, who breeds and races homing pigeons, has worked in many fields, including 18 years with the Prudential Insurance Co. He is the founder of Shiretown Insurance Agency in Farmington and has been active with the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce and the Healthy Community Coalition.
