AUBURN — Ida P. (Therriault) Girouard, 90, of Lewiston, passed away Monday, April 23, at Clover Manor.
Ida was born Dec. 27, 1927, the only child of Adrien and Rose (Dostie) Therriault. Her nickname was “Titite,” and not so many of her relatives knew her by Ida. She was married to Lucien “Blondie” Girouard in January 1946, and he passed away Oct. 6, 2013, after 68 years of marriage.
Ida was a member of Holy Cross Church, Ladies of Holy Cross and Holy Cross Seniors. She was employed for 23 years at Philips Elmet prior to her retirement in 1991.
She loved life, and no matter where she went she would meet people she knew and loved to stop and gab with them. She had a good sense of humor and remained young at heart. She loved music and especially sing-alongs; she had an extensive correspondence list and her letters were filled with interesting news of her family. Ida also remembered to send everyone birthday and anniversary cards on their special days.
Her other hobbies included working on jigsaw puzzles and watching the Boston Bruins. Her children and grandchildren meant everything to her and she would help them in any way she could.
Ida and Lucien loved camping and would often treat the grandkids for a weekend camping with their Memere and Pepere, which they really enjoyed. Ida and Lucien spent 15 winters at Ranch Mobile Home Park in Clearwater, Fla., and also enjoyed camping at Cathedral Pines in Eustis for 17 years and at the Fryeburg Fair for 19 years.
She will be greatly missed by her three children, Roland and Anita Girouard of Auburn, Claire and Reno Cyr of Lewiston and Gary and Irene Girouard of Lisbon; her grandchildren, Roland and Anna Girouard of Poland, John and Carla Girouard of New Hampshire, Karen and Michael Swisher of Indiana, Jenifer Girouard of South Paris, Michael and Ruth-Ann Cyr of South Freeport, Eric and Amy Cyr of Cumberland, Kristen Cyr and Harry Coddington of Auburn, Sean and Renee Galipeau of Topsham, and Jeff and Donna Galipeau of Auburn; her great-grandchildren, Joshua and Felicia Champagne, Jackson and Zachary Swisher, Culiandra Rose Nero, Eli Girouard, Roland Girouard III, Bailey and Ian Herrick, Riley Galipeau, Amanda Theberge, Tanya Tipton, Sydney Plourde, Megan Coddington, Genevieve and Vivian Oakes, Ivan Lucien Cyr, Vincent Emile Cyr, Damion, Michael, Alex and Fiona Theberge, her great-great-grandson, Finley Thompson Champagne; and also many nieces and nephews.
Ida’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Clover Manor for their patience and care they gave to Mom; she was well-cared for and really liked being at Clover for the past three years.
