BRUNSWICK — Ethan Brown gave up just three hits in five innings and received ample run support as Edward Little overpowered Brunswick 11-1 in early-season baseball action Friday.

Jake Arel, Grant Hartley and Ben Cassidy led the Red Eddies (4-0) with two hits each, with Cassidy driving in four runs.

Ichino Honda scored the Dragons’ lone run in the third inning.

Madison 8, Mt. Abram 3

SALEM — Madison erupted to score four runs in the seventh inning as it rallied to an 8-3 victory over Mt. Abram in early-season baseball action Friday.

Zach Belanger led the Bulldogs (2-1) with three hits, while Evan Bess belted out two hits and drove in two runs. Luke Kearing led the Roadrunners (1-2) with two hits.

Belanger earned the mound win, while Nate Luce suffered the loss.

Buckfield takes pair

WATERVILLE — Ethan Jackson notched the mound win in the opener and went 3-for-4 in the nightcap as Buckfield grabbed 10-0 and 6-0 victories over Temple in baseball action Friday afternoon.

Jackson struck out eight, while giving up just three hits for the Bucks in Game 1. Tyler Sullivan was 2-for-3 at the plate with an inside the park homrun and a single.

Buckfield won the second game on six hits and seven walks, scoring three runs in the first inning and three runs in the second.

Jackson had a triple in the contest.

Spruce Mountain 17, Wiscasset 1, 5 innings

LIVERMORE FALLS — Nick Lombardi had two home runs to lead Spruce Mountain to a 17-1 victory over Wiscasset in an MVC baseball contest.

Lombardi had a three-run home run in the bottom of the first and a solo shot in the fourth. Landon Brochu had a double. Shane Pelletier had three hits while Jordy Daigle, Brochu and Lombardi each had two hits.

The Phoenix (2-0) had a seven-run inning in the second, and again in and fourth.

Ronald Drake had two of the Wolverines’ three hits. They scored in the third.

Buckfield sweeps pair from Temple

BUCKFIELD — Buckfield kept its offense in high gear for two games on Friday, sweeping a rainy-day doubleheader against Temple.

In Game 1, Cara Merrill gave up six hits in five innings of work and drew ample run support as Buckfield rolled to a 5-0 victory.

Hannah Shields led the Bucks with four hits, while Merrill helped her own cause with a single, a double and a triple. Brittany Warren and Cassidy Lowell also contributed with two hits each.

In the nightcap, the Bucks completed the sweep with an 15-1 victory. Julia Dow pounded out two hits, while Merrill helped herself again with two singles and a triple.

Dow was efficient in the circle, striking out five batters while allowing just one hit and one walk.

Edward Little 19, Brunswick 4

BRUNSWICK — Senior Grace Beaudet pounded out four hits, plated two and scored four times while collecting two stolen bases as Edward Little steamrolled Brunswick 19-4 in softball action Friday afternoon.

Pitcher Shea Sullivan singled in a run and scored in the bottom of the first inning as the Dragons (0-2) took a short-lived lead.

The Red Eddies (3-1) went on seven-run tears in the third and fifth innings of the five-inning contest. Senior Emmy Lashua contributed four hits, two RBIs, three runs and a stolen base for Edward Little.

Senior Taylor Depot and sophomore Chantel Ouellette added three hits each towards the 19 Red Eddies hits in the winning effort.

Dirigo 23, Mountain Valley 6, 5 innings

DIXFIELD — Sophia Jacques homered and drove in five runs to lead the Dirigo softball team to a 23-6, five-inning win over Mountain Valley on Friday.

Gabby White knocked in four more runs for the Cougars (1-1), and Lillie Williams and Alexa Perrault drove in three each. Katie Morse and Kailey Hackett also drove in runs.

Ashley Perrault, who had two singles, went the distance in the circle for Dirigo, striking out five and walking only two.

Saydie Garbarini doubled and tripled and drove in two runs for Mountain Valley (0-2). Audra Bean had a triple and two RBIs. Garbarini pitched five inning and took the loss.

Lacrosse

Lincoln 18, St. Dom’s 4

AUBURN — Nolen Michael scored eight goals and dished off a pair of assists to lead Lincoln to a 18-4 rout over St. Dom’s in a boys’ lacrosse tilt Friday.

Liam Cullina chipped in for the Eagles (4-0) with five goals, while Nate Simmons had a hat trick. Single tallies from Liam Bracy and Jayden Dolloff completed the scoring. Will Fletcher tallied all four goals for the Saints (0-2), while Matt Gagnon added an assist.

Max Comis made eight saves for St. Dom’s.
