AUBURN — Barbara G. Howe, 81, a longtime resident of Auburn, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 29, at Clover Manor Health Care Facility, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Lewiston, Dec. 28, 1936, the daughter of Edward G. and Myra Louise (Ross) Gould. She attended local schools and following her education started a family.

She was active in the Lewiston-Auburn Community Little Theatre, where she enjoyed acting, musicals and was active in the Red Stocking Review, as well as a member of both St. Mary’s and Central Maine Medical Center’s Women’s Hospital Associations, AARP, Lewiston Senior Citizens and a former member of East Auburn Baptist Church.

She was also a singer in the Androscoggin Chorale. She was an active volunteer in transporting the elderly and disabled. She was a former treasurer of the Pine Street Social Center. She always helped those who couldn’t help themselves.

Survivors include four daughters, Diane Louise Scalia, Suzanne Pinette and Heidi Young, all of Farmingdale, and Michelle K. Gardner of Gray; one sister, Peg Belkenney, of Auburn; and also surviving are eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
