Bates College in 1875, depicting the two oldest buildings on campus, both erected in 1857. Each is still standing. On the left is Parker Hall, a dormitory, and on the right is Hathorn Hall, which originally housed classrooms, the president’s office, laboratories, the library and the chapel. It is still used for offices.
