This rendering of one possible plan for the expansion at Bates College was prepared eight years ago for the school by the Auburn-based Harriman design firm, which has worked with the college for years on its future facilities. The buildings in white already existed, those in red did not. The proposed Wood Street quad is among the proposals shown, behind a row of possible college buildings along the south side of Campus Avenue. Bates has since constructed two of the red buildings shown, both dormitories, and is planning a science building beside them. College officials have not said what else they might construct in the years ahead.
