RANGELEY — Class D South rivals Vinalhaven and Rangeley played a softball doubleheader Saturday, with the visiting Vikings taking the first game before the Lakers picked up their first win of the season in the second.

Gilleyanne Davis-Oakes pitched both games for the Vikings (2-3). She struck out nine batters in the first game to help her team to a 14-10 win.

At the plate in the first game Davis-Oakes had a double and a single, while Deja Doughty picked up a pair of base hits.

Sydney Royce pitched the first game for the Lakers (1-3), giving up nine hits while striking out five. She had two doubles at the plate.

Olivia Pye won the second game in the circle for Rangeley in a 13-6 victory. She scattered six hits and struck out two.

Royce stayed at with her bat, smacking a triple and a pair of singles. Lauren Eastlack also had a triple and a single.

Davis-Oakes gave up 11 hits in her second game of work. Doughty led the Vikings at the plate with two singles.
