The Lewiston City Council Tuesday finalized a $53.2 million budget that will raise property taxes by 6.8 percent in 1993-94. The council will formally vote on adopting the budget resolve next week. After two years in which the tax rate held steady at 23.55 mills, residents will see it rise to 25.15 mills. That means the owner of property with an assessed valuation of $100,000 will pay $2,515 in taxes in the coming year — or $160 more than in 1992-93 and 1993-94. It could have been higher still. City Administrator Robert Mulready’s recommended budget for the coming year totaled $54,009,000. It would have required a 9.8 percent tax hike.
